The Ministry of Justice has received statutory documents of pro-president mass public organization named “Belaya Rus”. According to the “Belorusskaya Gazeta”, it is possible that this organization would become an initiator of Constitution revision in order to prolong authority of the current president.

Coalition Five Plus Representatives Prohibited Rally Organization

District executive committees of Ushachy and Rassony (Vitsebsk region) have not issued a permit for carrying out meetings, which were planned in these towns by the Five Plus coalition activists, Navapolatsk dwellers Dzmitry Salauyou and Ihar Valyaeu. Mr. Salauyou is the head of the Belarusian Popular Front party in Navapolatsk, and Mr. Valyaeu heads the Social Democratic Hramada branch.

Prosecution witnesses testify against Levonevsky

Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions complains to International Labor Organization

The Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions (BCDTU) has sent a petition to the International Labor Organization (ILO), asking it to assess amendments proposed by the Belarusian justice ministry to the Trade Unions Law. “The justice ministry proposes that the membership of the national-level trade union should be increased from 500 to 30,000 people, i.e. 60-fold!” the BCDTU notes in its letter.

Belarusian politicians extend wishes to Lukashenko on occasion of his 50th birthday

“I wish the president only one thing, to abide by the constitution that he himself authored,” Anatoly Lebedko, leader of the United Civic Party (UCP), said in an interview with BelaPAN while commenting on the 50th birthday of Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko. In addition, the UCP leader wished Mr. Lukashenko to banish his unhealthy craving for power and leave big politics with dignity.

In this way at a press conference on August 30 Minster of Sports and Tourism Yury Sivakov defined the performance of Belarusian sportsmen in the Olympics in Greece. Summing up the results of the 28th Olympics, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism representative said that the Belarusian sportsmen had relatively achieved the result of 25 medals. We have 10 near misses – four positions, or so-called “wooden medals”.

Foreign companies interested in third GSM license in Belarus

Foreign companies are quite interested in a tender for becoming the third licensed 900/1800 MHz GSM operator in Belarus, Communications and Computerization Minister Vladimir Goncharenko told Interfax. "Interest among potential participants in this project is incommensurate with that companies showed during the determination of the first GSM operator," Goncharenko said.
