Mass Falsification Of Elections And Referendum Results Is Planned
16:59, 14/10/2004

Before the parliamentary elections and referendum in Belarus two sets of ballot papers have been produced. One of the sets is already marked “in a right way”: “Yes” to lifelong rule of Lukashenka at the referendum, and “yes” to the candidate of authorities at the parliamentary elections. This information was revealed today at the press conference in Minsk of the leaders of oppositional parties and human rights organizations. According to opposition’s sources, even the drafts of final protocols of voting (poll deeds) have been prepared already, with the exact figures and percents of those who voted “for” and “against”. All the protocols have been signed by chairmen of the commissions and secretaries of district commissions. To increase the proportion of those who ‘took part’ in the elections, the total number of voters in each polling station would be reduced by 10 %. It is obvious that the fabricated sets of ballot papers are to be stored in district commissions, and the ballots of divisional election committee are to be destroyed right after the voting.
