Voters Found Missing All Over Belarus 23:51, 17/10/2004
Our viewers continue to send us new evidence that the results of the elections and referendum can be easily rigged. Thus, in one of the houses of Minsk in Surganaw Street, 52 (which has 72 apartments), in the official list of citizens entitled to vote, 15 persons were missing! “Missing” persons who came to vote, were entered into a new separate list. To the question why it is so, the frightened member of the commission referred to a mistake of a typist.
Another evidence that some people who came to the polling stations were not in the lists of voters, have been just received. Our reader insists that his name and the name of his brother were not found in the list of voters in the polling station number 286, in the Rafiew Street 82A, school number 206.
And here is the email from Navapolatsk:
All our family (mother, father and me) came to the polling station number 35, in Navapolatsk, School number 12 (the 29th constituency). We show our passports. A lady looked at me and said that she does not have such young person in her list. And she forwarded me to another lady, who has additional lists of those who were not found in the main list. I started to look for my name in the main list myself, despite of the assurances that I am not there. Maybe, 24 years old is not the age to be absent on the list. That`s why I have made a conclusion that young people were not entered in lists in order to make the turnout higher”.
One of our viewers living in the neighborhood of Kujbyshaw Street, writes that the number of his apartment was not on the list of voters.
At the polling station number 572 (Kalinowsky Street, 52, School number 137) the occasions when voters who came to the polling station with invitations cannot find their names in the list of voters have a mass character. Indignant people write complaints. Another our reader wanted to write a complaint as well, but when he saw that the complaints are registered in a usual school copy-book which is not stitched up, the paged are not numbered, there are no seals on the cover or inside, he gave up this idea.
In the list where he was to be registered, dwellers of about 150 apartments are registered. At 2 p.m. about 15 voters were not found there. As the first analysis shows, mostly young people are not entered in the lists. Our correspondent saw four indignant people when he was at the polling station. The viewer thinks that after the voting he commission “with a clear conscience” can destroy the additional lists, taking away the corresponding number of ballot papers against lifting limits for the number of presidential terms.
