Lukashenko authorizes interior ministry to license companies that import labor force 13:26, 09/11/2004
Aleksandr Lukashenko on November 8 signed a presidential decree that authorizes the Ministry of Internal Affairs to issue licenses for companies that import foreign labor force into Belarus, the Belarusian leader’s press office reported.
Formerly, this function belonged to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, but “matters concerning citizenship and migration naturally fall within the sphere of responsibility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs above all,” the press office said.
The decree introduces “changes and additions into some earlier decrees in connection with structural changes that have occurred in the system of the interior ministry’s agencies and units,” and “specifies the powers of governmental agencies and other legal entities in the area of protective activities.”
The measures provided by the decree will be "carried out in the framework of general efforts made in the country for further streamlining the structure and work force of the government apparatus, and increasing the efficiency of the state government system,” the press office said.
