Hundreds of workers of “Lavsan” factory of Svetlahorsk industrial association “Khimvolokno” were obliged to go on leave of absence. It was caused by Russian enterprises of chemical industry. “We have problems with raw material, monoethylene glycol. It is delivered by Mahilyow “Khimvolokno” to us. And Mahilyow is delivered chemicals for it from Russia. Some disaster had happened in Orenburg industrial unit. The government of Russia ordered to deliver all chemicals only to Russian plants,” told director general of the industrial association “Khimvolokno” Vasily Kastsiukevich to Radio Svaboda.
Many Svetlahorsk workers are to be on leave till November 21. It is the second work stoppage of the chemical plant because of absence of raw materials.
Workers are upset because of these work stoppages.
“People react badly for it. For instance, in the workshop of texturing people recive two thirds of base wage rate. It is less then half of a usual wage. Many people were crying. There is no other work in the town. But something has happened to the people. They are very frightened. Nobody says anything publicly. Everybody is silent. But I think it is temporarily that they keep silence,” believes worker of “Lavsan”, who did not want her name to be revealed.
