Prosecutor’s Office Do Not Give Back Confiscated Property of the Levaneuskis 15:31, 18/11/2004
Wife of the leader of the National Strike Committee of Entrepreneurs, member of the European coalition “Free Belarus” Valery Levaneuski, who was sentenced to two years of colony for libeling president, addressed to Prosecutor General and a number of other state bodies and officials with a demand to decide the issue of the confiscated property amounting to more than 15,000 USD. Besides, during the search carried out by Hrodna KGB department, 10,000 USD disappeared from the flat of the Levaneuskis.
“My husband and me told many times that the confiscated property do not belong to Levaneuski personally, but to the family of the Levaneuskis, and is a jointly acquired property,” told maryna Levaneuskaya in her statement.
On the basis of the court decision office equipment and software were confiscated from Valery Levaneuski. According to Levaneuski, it is his intellectual property. However, the accusation of Hrodna KGB officers in stealing money is the most scandalous thing.
“After the search on May 7 money disappeared from our flat, though, according to my husband, more than 10,000 USD were kept in a closet in a foreground. It is strange that everything was included to the seizure protocol: CDs with pictures and programs, different documents (more than 20,000 documents), computers, Xeroxes, seals, paper and other things; but not a single ruble or dollar was recorded-- told Maryna Levaneuskaya.
