State Refuses to Print and Sell “Myastsovy Chas” Newspaper 13:49, 01/12/2004
Pinsk regional printing-house again has refused to cooperate with the independent newspaper “Myastsovy Chas”. For more than a year Pinsk printing-house was obliged to be published in the town of Baranavichy, which inferred additional costs for the editorial office, and meant less flexibility, the BAJ press service informs.
As said by the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Viktar Yarashuk, director of Pinsk printing-house A.Prakopaw alleged that the printing-house had an off-peak period. But according to the information of the BAJ, the printing-house has new equipment that allows printing tens of newspapers. The printing-house daily produces circulation of eight regional newspapers.
Besides, Pinsk news-stands of the state-run monopoly enterprise “Belsayuzdruck” refuse to sell the “Myastsovy Chas”. The director of the local branch of the “Belsayuzdruck” Nina Navumchyk told that the news-stands are overcharged with periodicals, and they have no space for the “Myastsovy Chas”. Viktar Yarashuk believes that in this way the authorities take revenge on the newspaper for its critical articles.
