Belarus set to continue its cooperation with PACE, OSCE, lower chamber’s speaker says 12:28, 06/12/2004
Vladimir Konoplyov, chairman of the National Assembly’s House of Representatives, stressed that Belarus’ government would continue cooperating with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).
It is time the West understood that the Belarusians “are no students, we live and cooperate in accordance with our own laws that are in line with international standards,” the Rosbalt news agency quoted the lower chamber’s speaker as saying in St.Petersburg on Saturday.
Mr. Konoplyov reportedly recommended that all European countries should learn from the Belarusian authorities how to organize elections on a high level. He noted that many CIS observers, including some 200 representing Russia, reported no irregularities during October’s parliamentary elections and national referendum held in Belarus.
