Accident in Homel Hospital :: Charter'97 :: News

The Charter’97 press center has received an email about a tragedy in Homel regional hospital. Though we cannot confirm this information yet, we are going to publish it, as we know that such emergencies, especially with participation of representatives of law-enforcing agencies, are usually hushed up by state-run mass media.

“In the night (6.01.05-7.01.05) in intensive care ward of Homel regional hospital three officers of the remand prison were guarding a person under investigation. Two of them got drunk, after that one of them developed a delirium tremens fit, and he started to make shots from a gun at medical staff and everybody who was coming into view. In a result a medical nurse and a nurse’s aide was lightly wounded. One of the officers of the remand prison got a gunshot wound of stomach. He had been operated on and now placed to the intensive care of the same hospital in grave condition.
The official mass media have not been informing about it for two days already. I cannot tell my name as the employees were told in words not to speak about this accident, as it is one of many characteristics of Lukashenka’s regime”.
