Lukashenka vs "Voice of America", Radio "Liberty" and Russian TV channels :: Charter'97 :: News

Activation of informational pressure on Belarus from East and West have been seen recently. Aliaksandr Lukashenka said it during conference about national TV channels and perspectives of TV development in Belarus. Head of state considers that this pressure will grow because of forthcoming political events including political event of 2006. “We must be ready to resist this pressure single-handed”, -- said Lukashenka. He marked that new and new programs of “Voice of America” and Radio “Liberty” that broadcast on Belarusian territory. Anti-Belarusian channels of neighbor countries especially Russia don’t get behind.

“The West is ready to invest serious money to convince people that authorities are bad, conditions are intolerable and people are bad,” – said Lukashenka.

“Independent state in the center of Europe that holds policy in the interests of its citizens is a headache for those who got used to inflict his rules. Support that Belarusian people expressed to authorities during last political events confound enemies of our country inside Belarus and abroad. Our people showed clearly with whom and against whom they are”, -- said Lukashenka.
