Liquidation Threatens Women’s NGO From Horki 16:51, 25/02/2005
The Mahilyou regional justice department has issued an official warning to the women’s public association “Lubava” from Horki. The officials think that the NGO must find another office and legal address, instead of the recent headquarters situated in the block of flats.
Activists of the NGO are surprised by this demand, as their legal address is registered in a private house with two separate entrances, not in a block of flats. However, if the officials would win the case in the court (everything is possible in our courts), the women NGO would face a challenging problem, as it is almost impossible to find another place for a legal address in the little town of Horki.
The “Lubava” was registered in 2001, and for today it is one of the most famous NGOs of the town. Its members of the NGO are known for the dwellers of the town as they had organized a lot of events for orphans and socially unprotected families. And now the “Lubava” is under threat of liquidation and working illegally.
