Hrodna Traders’ Leader Sentenced to 15 Days Of Arrest 11:20, 01/03/2005
Deputy head of the public association Perspektyva Dzmitry Ivanouski was sentenced to 15 days of arrest. This ruling was made yesterday by the judge in administrative cases of Lenin district of Hrodna Natallya Kazyol.
Dzmitry Ivanouski was charged with organizing an unsanctioned meeting of Hrodna market vendors, that took place on February 10. Before the protest leaflets of unregistered democratic movement “Haradzenski Vybar” (“Hrodna’s Choice”) were handed out in the markets of Hrodna. The leaflets contained the appeal to take part in the protest action. This leaflet was signed by former deputies of the Chamber of Representatives Valery Fralou and Syarhei Skrabets, and also by Dzmitry Ivanouski.
On February 9 policemen made an attempt to detain Ivanouski. But traders managed to defend him. After that Ivanouski went underground. Only yesterday policemen managed to detain the leader of businessmen of Hrodna. On the same day he was taken to the court and sentenced to 15 days of arrest. As pahonia.promedia.by informs, previously judge Natallya Kazyol sentenced Valery Fralou and Syarhei Skrabets to huge fines for organizing the protest action of vendors.
