Mikhail Marynich`s Sons Visit USA

Igor and Pavel Marynich, sons of the Belarusian political prisoner Mikhail Marynich, stay on a visit in Washington, US capital these days. During the meetings they inform American political and public leaders, the press about the situation in Belarus, and about the case of their father, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus, ex-Minister of Foreign Economic Relations Mikhail Marynich, and about the activities of the Council of Civil Initiatives “Free Belarus”, which part the civil initiative “Freedom to Political Prisoners!” headed by Igor and Pavel Marynich is.

Yesterday Igor and Pavel Marynich had a meeting in the US State Department. Marynichs answered to the questions about the cooperation of civil society and political parties in Belarus, told about the activities of the Council of Civil Initiatives “Free Belarus”. The representatives of the department for relations with Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus, told in their turn that they are following the situation in Belarus and the case of Mikhail Marynich attentively.

They also met with James Vigil, the head of the foreign department of the Senator Hillary Clinton’s Office. The sons of Marynich expressed their gratitude to Senator for support of Belarus Democracy Act. The representatives of the office passed words of support to prisoner of conscience Mikhail Marynich.

Igor and Pavel Marynich were also received by Transition Democracies Project, the President of the US Committee on NATO Bruce Jackson.

Ariel Cohen, «Heritage Foundation» analyst, received the sons of Mikhail Marynich. He listened to the information from Belarus and told about his understanding of the situation in our country.

In the end of the first day of their visit Igor and Pavel Marynich answered the questions of journalists Jackson Diehl and Peter Savodnik («Washington Post» and «The Hill»).
