A statement of claim has been submitted to the court of Kastrychitski district of Minsk against a well-known Belarusian journalist Iryna Khalip, and private unitary enterprise “Marat”, a publisher of the Belorusskaya Delovaya Gazeta. A defendant is some Arkady Mar, who had recently interviewed Alyaksandr Lukashenka in capacity of an editor-in-chief of the American newspaper “Russkaya Amerika”.

For the ninth day people are gathering on the Square with portraits of former minister and diplomat Mikhail Marynich, leaders of vendors’ movement Valery Levaneuski, Alyaksandr Vasilyeu, Anatol Shumchanka, the Young Front leaders Zmitser Dashkevich and Artur Finkevich, Zubr activist Maxim Vinyarksi. On Monday about 60 activists of Zubr movement, the Council of Civil Initiatives “Free Belarus”, public association Perspektyva and the Young Front, took part in the protest.

Mikhail Marynich Had Heart Attack In Prison

During the medical check-up of political prisoner Mikhail Marynich in the cardiology center of the hospital number 4 it was established that alongside with the ischemic stroke the 65-year-old politician had a myocardial infarction about half a year ago. The press center of the Charter’97 was informed about it by the son of Mikhail Marynich, leader of the civil initiative “Freedom to Political Prisoners!” Igor Marynich. As said by Igor Marynich, an inflammatory process is taking place in the body of his father, and its nature cannot be explained by doctors still.

"I sincerely hope that we can further increase our cooperation with Belarus in the future by offering it all the benefits of our Neighbourhood Policy. But, for that to be possible, the government of Belarus must first clearly demonstrate its commitment to the European values of democracy, human rights and rule of law," said Ferrero-Waldner.
