Lukashenka about union with Russia: the more we run into the process, the more questions emerge
15:40, 13/04/2005

The questions of elaboration and adoption of the Constitutional Act of the “union state” and introduction of a single currency are to be solved as one package, told A. Lukashenka answering the questions of journalists today. “We have always insisted on that, because a question emerges: what’s next after the common currency of Russia and Belarus introduced? What was the aim of all this? The answers are to be within the range of the Constitutional Act, that is why we cannot avoid the package approach to these questions’ solving,” A. Lukashenka told.

The head of the state also underlined that according to the Belarusian side, the Constitution of the Belarusian-Russian union should not be weaker than the existing extensive agreement on creation of the “union state”. “There are questions here as well, but we are conducting a dialogue in this sphere. The core of the subject is that it should be a union of equal states. This topic is not eliminated from the strategic plan,” underlined the Belarusian leader.

Lukashenka noted that in present integration relations of Russia and Belarus there are “unsettled themes, where the decisions are still to be arrived at”. “The more we run into this process, the more questions to be solved emerge,” added the head of the state.
