Lithuanian FM Demands Explanations From Belarusian Authorities 16:13, 18/04/2005
Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has requested additional information about the attempt to smuggle $200 thousand to Belarus by a Lithuanian citizen, Novosti news agency informs with reference to the news radio station "Ziniu radijas".
The Belarusian authorities have informed that the law enforcing agencies of Belarus have detained a citizen of Belarus for smuggling $200 thousand intended for one of Belarusian oppositionists, Sergei Skrebets. The Belarusian National TV channel reported about it in a program “In the center of attention”.
A detained citizen of Lithuania was shown in the program, however his face was blurred, and the voice was distorted. As said by the “courier”, “the money was intended for political activities of Sergei Skrebets and was received in Vilnius, and after that taken to Minsk with all precautions”.
