Belarus’ opposition leaders to meet with US state secretary, EU foreign policy chief in Vilnius 15:25, 20/04/2005
Belarus’ opposition leaders are expected to meet with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Javier Solana, European Union high representative for foreign policy, in Vilnius on April 21.
Anatoly Lebedko, leader of the United Civic Party (UCP), told BelaPAN that a representative of his party will attend the meeting with Ms. Rice.
He would not identify members of the opposition delegation, but said that it will consist of about seven representatives of non-governmental organizations and political parties.
He said the aim of the meeting with Ms. Rice is to inform her about the position of political parties and NGOs in Belarus. The meeting with Ms. Rice follows last month’s tour of the United States by Belarus’ opposition delegation.
