First deputy interior minister may become head of Belarusian Judo Federation 13:44, 05/05/2005
Aleksandr Shchurko, first deputy minister of internal affairs, may take over as head of the Belarusian Judo Federation, Sports Minister Yury Sivakov told reporters in Minsk on May 4.
According to him, the candidacy of police General Shchurko has already been approved by coaches and experts, and will be proposed at the next general meeting of the Federation.
Vladimir Naumov, minister of internal affairs, heads the Belarusian Ice-Hockey Federation.
Mr. Sivakov said that the swimming and handball federations also might soon get new heads. However, he said that he considered it premature to name any specific candidates.
