Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus Studies Possibility to Bring to Account “Moskovskiy Komsomolets”
17:10, 05/05/2005

The Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus studies the possibility to bring to account the Russian newspaper “Moskovskiy Komsomolets”, that published an article “Lukabludie” on April 28, told press secretary of the Prosecutor’s Office Yuri Azaryonak to the BelaPAN.

On April 29 the so-called “national assembly” of Belarus has addressed the Prosecutor’s Office with a request to study possibility of bringing to account the “Moskovskiy Komsomolets”. “Deputy” Viktor Kuchinsky was initiator of the query. According to him, the article “Lukabludie” contains statements that insult as Belarus and Alyaksandr Lukashenka. In particular, the MP cited the following words: “Learned dogs of the fascist Lukashenka again do violence to the dissenters. The day before yesterday they staged a colossal battle in the center of Minsk. Dozens of people were sent to prison”.

The article reported about the protest on April 26 in Mink on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Chernobyl disaster, and ended in arrests and beating up of demonstrators.
