Lukashenka Don’t Want to Meet Yushchenko In Moscow So Far 10:56, 05/05/2005
The meeting of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Ukrainian president Viktor Yushchenko on May 8 in Moscow is not planned yet, informed Ukrainian TV channel ICTV with reference to the Administration of the Belarusian president.
As “Rosbalt” informs, President Viktor Yushchenko stated that during the meeting on May 8 in Moscow on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Victory he is going to discuss with Alyaksandr Lukashenka arrest of five Ukrainian citizens who participated in peaceful protest action in Minsk. “I would not like this incident to change our bilateral relations with sister nation of Belarus. But the fact of double standards in relation to participants of peaceful demonstration, Ukrainian citizens and Russian citizens, demonstrate special attitude to this episode,” the head of state said.
“On May 8 I would propose Lukashenka to draw conclusions from these incidents for us both, and not to turn our good neighbourly relations into some other type of relations,” Yushchenko promised and reminded that Ukrainian FM had sent three notes to the Belarusian side in connection with arrest of Ukrainian citizens in Minsk.
