Andrei Klimov refused to learn criminal case materials 16:30, 11/05/2005
Andrei Klimov, MP of the 13th Supreme Soviet, refused to learn the materials of the criminal case brought up against him. The materials were given to him by the investigator of the investigative committee of the Interior Affairs department of Minsk executive committee on May 6. Previously the political prisoner refused to give evidence during interrogations.
As the press service of the Andrei Klimov’s movement informs, on May 11 the investigator plans to forward the materials of the criminal case to the prosecutor’s office of Minsk, which is to submit the materials to the court within 7 working days.
The term of incarceration of Andrei Klimov remains the same: until June 22, 2005. Despite of the fact that three children and disabled mother are waiting for him at home, the investigator is not going to grant his release on parole.
However, the politician was allowed to meet with his wife and mother. The meeting is to take place one of these days. Besides, Klimov was granted a possibility to exchange letters. On April 22 Andrei Klimov was detained and taken to the investigative committee of the Interior Affairs department of Minsk executive cmmittee. the politician was detained for organizing a protest action on March 25. A criminal action has been brought up against him. He was charged with violating an article 342 of the Criminal Code (organizing group actions violating public order, or active participation in them).
At the moment the politician is incarcerated in the pre-trial detention center of Interior Affairs department of Minsk executive committee.
