Dauhalyou: Russian Ruble Won’t Be Introduced in Belarus Since January 1 12:29, 24/05/2005
Belarusian president’s plenipotentiary representative in Russia, Vasil Dauhalyou (Vasily Dolgolev) considers introduction of the Russian ruble since January 1, 2006 as a payment instrument in Belarus, problematical. “The Russian ruble won’t be introduced since January 1. I am certain about that. We are not managing to meet the schedule technically,” he told.
Dauhalyou explained that for technical realization of the Russian ruble’s introduction six months are needed. But an agreement on budget policy, which is not ready yet, is to be signed before that.
Dauhalyou informed that Russia and Belarus had made a plan of single currency introduction, however the Russian side had some corrections to that. It had been planned that a group would gather to discuss these corrections, Dauhalyou said. However, the group had not gathered.
