Alexander Lukashenko: Belarus ready to develop cooperation with Burkina Faso 15:13, 08/06/2005
Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus is interested in the goods made in Burkina Faso and the resources the country possesses. “We would like the two countries establish the closest trade-economic cooperation”, the president said addressing the diplomat. At the same time the Belarusian leader noted that the trade is the basis for diplomatic and political relations.
In turn, the ambassador of Burkina Faso expressed readiness to render the utmost assistance in maintaining and strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The diplomatic relations between Belarus and Burkina Faso were established in November 1992. There is no legal-treaty base of bilateral relations. Neither there were any contacts on high and highest level. The trade turnover between the two countries in January-March 2005 made about USD 1 million. Belarus exports to Burkina Faso tractors, trailers and semi-trailers, potash fertilizers. Since 2001 there have been no imports from Burkina Faso to Belarus.
