Prisoners support Valery Levaneuski 13:41, 08/06/2005
Today this is the 8th day of the hunger strike in the Ivatsevichy reformatory kept by Valery Levaneuski, the leader of the All-National Strike Committee of Entrepreneurs, member of the Civil Initiatives Council “Svabodnaya Belarus”. The day before a former detainee of the reformatory who had been granted an amnesty rang up the wife of the political prisoner. He said, people knew about Levaneuski’s hunger strike and upheld him.
At the moment Valery Levaneuski is being kept in the medical department of the reformatory. The entrepreneurs’ leader insists on consideration of his claims and demands discharge of the Head of the Penalty Executions Committee Uladzimir Kauchur.
We shall remind that last year Valery Levaneuski was sentenced to two-year reformatory for defamation of Aliaxandar Lukashenka. It was written in the leaflet that he had spread among entrepreneurs: “Come and claim your protest against somebody having rest in Austria at your expense, going skiing, enjoying his life”. Amnesty International announced Valery Levaneuski prisoner of consciousness. lllll
