Belarusian nuclear power station to be constructed in Vitsebsk region? 17:39, 10/06/2005
Belarusian scientists have conducted a research to determine possible areas of constructing a nuclear power station and polytypic vaults of radioactive waste in the territory of the country, as vice-president of the United Institute of Energy Structures and Nuclear Researches “Sosny” (Minsk) of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Belarus Mikalay Grusha has said today at the 1st Congress of Physicians in Minsk, BelTA informs. According to the scientific findings such areas are situated to the north-east of the republic. However, a range of geophysical, geological, seismo-tectonic researches is essential to make the data more precise.
“Actually, the answer to the question whether we can build a nuclear power station in the country was known earlier. Nevertheless, the demands have been toughened recently since the Chernobyl catastrophe; thus, additional works have been conducted to analyze this opportunity,” - Mikalay Grusha said.
