Criminal Action Brought Up Against Directors of Markets “Expobel” and “Akvabel” 15:42, 15/06/2005
A criminal action had been brought up against general director of trading center “Expobel” and director of “Akvabel” market, based on the materials collected by Economic Crimes departments of Internal Affairs Ministry and Minsk Interior Affairs Department, “Respublika” newspaper reports with reference to the information department of Minsk executive committee. The administrators of these markets are charged with abuse of power and transgression of authority.
According to Economic Crimes departments of Internal Affairs Ministry, through their administrators the suspects imposed fines on vendors, who rented premises. The entrepreneurs were fined for violation of sanitary norms, preventive fire-righting regulations, public order and so on. There have been 915 cases for a period of a year; it means the same number of persons affected. The directors of the markets in fact executed the functions of state agencies. The damage to vendors amounts to tens millions of rubles. It is supposed that there had been similar violations of the directors before, from the very beginning of their work. The investigation is continued.
