Just 25% of Belarusian schools have internet access
11:21, 22/06/2005, DMEurope

Only 25 per cent of Belarusian schools have access to the internet and just 58 per cent have any computer equipment at all.

The troubling figures were released at the Council of Ministers Presidium of the Republic of Belarus meeting last week.

The participants of the meeting emphasised that within the framework of education reform, while two laws concerning vocational training and on education for disabled children were adopted and two draft laws on preschool education and secondary education were developed and more that 200 regulations have been put in force, nothing has been done in order to establish and introduce national standards for the provision of computer equipment in schools.
