Paval Seviarynets’ appeal to be considered June 28 11:42, 22/06/2005
The Minsk Municipal Court will examine the criminal case of the charge brought by Belarusian opposition leaders Mikola Statkievich and Paval Seviarynets regarding the appeal. The date of the trial is set to June 28, 10.00 a.m. to the address: Minsk, Dunina-Martsinkevicha Street -1. If the Municipal Court justifies the decision of the Central court, the sentence will come into force.
We shall remind that the court of the Minsk Central Distinct sentenced chairperson of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Narodnaya Gramada), coordinator of the European Coalition Mikola Statkievich and one of the “Malady Front” leaders Paval Seviarynets to 3 years of freedom restriction for organization of the protest actions against the falsification of the results of the Parliamentary election and Referendum.
Chairperson of BSDP (NG) Mikola Statkievich says he regards this case a political violence incited by the intention of the BSDP (NG) and European Coalition to nominate him to the post of the President. Mikola Statkievich also deems that politically motivated cases make the existence of independent Belarusian court impossible. Owing to this he still does not intend to participate in this justice imitation and will not be present and the court session June 28.
