Belarusian officials are not likely to be allowed to Ukraine 11:41, 22/06/2005
The Ukrainian youth organization “National Alliance” addressed the Interior Minister of Ukraine asking to debar all involved in the breaches of rights of the youth in Belarus from entering Ukraine. It is stated in the declaration of the public organization that in Belarus within one year before the Presidential election the practice of expelling students because of their political views has been reinforced significantly. The last example of the repressions exercised by the Belarusian powers was the expulsion form a Zhodzina technical secondary school “Malady Front” activist Siargey Murashka for his participation in the action “Charnobylski Way - 2005”.
May 25 - June 4, in the town of Zhodzina (Minsk Region) 12 activists of the Belarusian youth organizations hunger stroke in order to make the powers cease the pressure on the oppositional youth. 400 young dwellers of Zhodzino signed the demands of the hunger striking. Students from 10 countries of the worlds claimed their solidarity with the hunger striking and held actions of support. In Ukraine “National Alliance” organized an action “Let Them Study!” in Kiev, Lutsk, Lvov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Krivoy Rog and Lugansk region.
It is emphasized in the declaration that the Zhodzina powers ignored the hunger strike and used the ideological department to exercise the pressure on the youth of the town and students of the Zhodzina educational establishments.
Moreover, it is stressed in the declaration that during a meeting in the Belarusian Ministry of Education with the Belarusian intelligentsia, the empowered officials of this institution promised to conduct vigorous control over the oppositional youth’ hunger strike; nevertheless nothing has been done so far.
