“Narodnaya Volya” Sues Information Ministry 15:28, 22/06/2005
On June 27 at 11 a.m. at the Supreme Economic Court (Valadarski Str., 8) the claim of the editorial office of the newspaper “Narodnaya Volya” to Information Ministry is to be adjudicated. The newspaper demands to declare invalid the warning to the newspaper.
The action concerns the official warning issued to the newspaper on April 13 referring to Article 5 of Law on Press for two articles published in March. The first article, on March 3, was called “Virtual war of granddaughter with grandmother”. The Information Ministry has decided that the author (A.Sivy) published the materials of the unfinished criminal case without written sanction of judge. On March 31 the newspaper published “Address to Internationalist Soldiers” by the leader of the Yury Zakharanka movement “defenders of Motherland” A.Vouchak. Information ministry called this “dissemination of information on behalf of unregistered public association”, the Belarusian Association of Journalists informs.
