Belarusian Ministry of Exterior attacks USA, EU and special speaker of PACE
14:50, 23/06/2005

“Stock phrases and clich?s of the USA and EU, well-known not only in Belarus, but in many other countries as well, are not new and are still used under the mask of propaganda of democratic values for promoting their political and economic interests on the post-soviet territory,” - assistant head of the Information Administration R. Yesin commented on the joint statement of the USA-EU.

We shall remind that, according to the results of the USA-EU summit that took place June 20 in the White House, democracy will be promoted in Belarus.

“We are studying the course and the outcome of the sitting of the Sub-commission on Belarus of the PACE Commission of Political Affairs that was held on June 22, 2005, in Strasbourg,” - assistant head of the Information Administration of the Ministry of Exterior of Belarus R. Yesin reports.

“As we have stated already, the position of refraining from cooperation with Belarus, taken by the European Council, has no prospects,” - added the Ministry of Exterior representative.

According to R. Yesin, the points of the Memorandum on Belarus presented by the speaker of the Sub-commission A. Mollazade, the statements announced during the sitting carry no constructive propositions, but repeat the old accusations regarding our state.

“Many Sub-commission members seem to be impelled rather by their personal political ambitions than by pure intention to cooperate with Belarus,” - the Diplomat stressed.
“Unfortunately, at present the PACE reaps the fruits of its counterproductive policy that has practically excluded the PACE from the political dialogue with Belarus,” - R. Yesin emphasized.
