NEWS  Belarussian president wants criminal punishment for drunk driving 14:58, 27/06/2005 Under the bill such an offence will punishable as a criminal wrongdoing. Criminal punishment will be introduced for those caught drunk at the wheel twice over a period of twelve months. Administrative punishment for driving the car in the state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication will be tightened, too. The maximum fine for this type of offence will be close to 1,200 dollars. The court may also sentence drunk drivers to two years of correctional work or a prison term of up to six months.
