Juzefa Waraksa, the head of the local branch of Union of Poles in Belarus, was murdered in Rakau. Legal investigators claim it’s an ordinary homicide. The suspect was detained the next day. This is a Rakau dweller; he was arrested and now is kept in the investigatory isolation ward.
68-year old Juzefa Waraksa was murdered at night June 22 in her own house. The assassin made nine knife wounds on her body and two on her chin. Afterwards he found in the house and took a golden chain and silver spoons. The next day legal investigators detained the suspected local teenager. They also found the stolen things - the murderer buried them in the garden.
Head of the criminal offences investigation control department Ivan Mikhniuk told Radio Liberty that the investigation adheres to the version of an ordinary criminal homicide. The number of murders of pensioners who possess some money has increased significantly within the past 3 years. In Minsk region there have been 57 homicides from the beginning of the year. According to the statistics, about two hundred people are murdered by criminals each year. The most frequent reason of a homicide is hard drinking. Ivan Mikhniuk assured that in the given case the investigatory group would consider all possible versions.
