Does not Belarusian Television know what it broadcasts? 12:53, 28/06/2005
The Union of Poles received a short letter from the Belarusian Television (BT) saying: “We inform you at your request that the video film “Who ordered Union of Poles” was not broadcast on the First National TV-channel on May 13”. The reply was signed by assistant head of the State Television and Radio Company Aliaxandar Martynenka.
In the evening of May 13, the Belarusian Television transmitted a 45-minute film targeted against the new leadership of the Union of Poles in Belarus and several Polish Diplomats. The filmmakers used operative video records and speeches of former head of the Union Tadeusz Kruczkouski and his supporters, as Radio Liberty reports.
May 14, in Grodna the Chief Rada of the UPB held its meeting - a statement was adopted, where it was said: “To demand from the Belarusian Television to refute the discrediting information of the film “Who ordered Union of Poles. To ask the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus to bring the film makers and participants to book.”
In the letter addressed to the BT the leadership of the UPB asked for broadcasting time to refute the false facts exposed in the film. Many friends of the UPB saw that film, but the management of the Belarusian Television and Radio Company claims the film was not broadcast, GrodnaNews reports.
