Money for subscription to «Sovetskaya Belorussia» taken from children 12:55, 28/06/2005
The money that the students of the Varkhousk secondary school (Garadziets district) earned themselves were withdrawn from the children in the result of the obligatory departmental subscription to “Sovetskaya Belorussia”. According to the school’s headmaster Leanid Garavy, it was ordered to subscribe to the edition using “non-budget means” - these means are the money that the students earned collecting junk paper and working in gardens.
“One set of “Sovetskaya Belorussia” for 6 months costs Br 45 000. But this is a huge sum! To earn this money the students have to grow 200 kg of vegetables - carrot or potato. We could buy paint for repairs or sports balls - but no way, we must subscribe! Why don’t richer organizations subscribe the school to the newspaper - gas or energy enterprises, this would be appropriate. Since it is written even in the President’s site that the village schools are not financed properly,” - the headmaster of the school told Radio Liberty.
