Customs Duty for Cars Import to Grow by 90-100 Euro 13:10, 30/06/2005
Customs duty for bringing in used cars to Belarus by physical persons is to grow by average 90-100 Euro, told chairman of the State Customs Committee Alyaksandr Shpileuski in Minsk, answering the questions of the “deputies” on Wednesday.
The head of the committee specified that the corresponding draft decree had been prepared by the State Customs Committee and is to be sighed by the head of state.
“No significant price raise expected. Customs duty is to grow for physical persons to go up by 100 Euro, and about 500 USD for legal bodies,” A.Shpileuski specified.
He also said that the draft decree lays down new breakdown by years of imported cars. “We divide the cars into several categories: used for 1-3 years, 3-10 years, 10-14 years and more than 14 years,” A.Shpileuski said.
Previously citizens of Belarus had to pay 0.6 Euro per cubic cm of customs duty for a car used less then 3 years, regardless the of the cubic capacity; 0.35 Euro for a car from 3 to 10 years for an engine up to 2,500 cubic cm, and 0.6 Euro for a car with an engine more than 2,500 cubic cm; for a car from 10 to 14 years - 0.6 Euro, older than 14 years – 2 Euro per cubic cm.
