As said by Valery Levaneuski, the administration of the colony hinted him many times that he could be included into amnesty and granted early conditional release in case he would publicly abandon political activities and disband the strike committee headed by him. But the political prisoner also told that “bargaining is out of question for him, and future of Motherland, freedom of Belarus cannot be traded”.
Last week-end new regional meetings for nomination of candidates for the National Congress of the democratic forces took place. During the meetings it is planned to elect about 300 delegates from the whole country. At the Congress in September a single candidate of democratic forces to run in the presidential elections in 2006 is to be elected. Because of the interference of local authorities the meetings are often held secretly.

Belarus said yesterday it is expelling a Polish diplomat, in the latest diplomatic tit-for-tat expulsion between the two neighbors. Belarus has given Andrzej Buczak, an adviser in the Polish Embassy in Minsk, until 21 July to leave the country in retaliation for the expulsion of a Belarus diplomat from Poland.
The secretary of state of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Pavel Borodin, suggested on Sunday that the U.S. dollar be made the currency of the Union State. "We`ve long been putting everything into dollars anyway," Borodin told a news conference. "We should have put everything into dollars a long time ago," he said.
