Property of “Pressball” editor-in-chief distrained once again
13:46, 20/07/2005

Property of the editor-in-chief of the leading sports newspaper Vladimir Berezhkov (Uladzimir Berazhkou) was distrained in the presence of attesting witnesses for a second time. First time it happened on March 11 in line with the ruling of the court of Tsentralny district of Minsk at the suit of finance minister Mikalay Korbut.

The court found untrue the statement of journalist Syarhei Vyarsotski “Finance minister of Belarus vice-minister is searched by Interpol for participation in an organized criminal group”, published on October 22, 2004. The court decided to impose a penalty of 30 mln rubles on the newspaper’s publisher unitary enterprise “Pressball Plus” and 10 million rubles on Editor-in-chief Uladzimir Berazhkou. By this title an article about the situation around vice-chairman of the Gymnastics Association Andrei Imanali was announced. (Finance Minister Mikalay Korbut also is the head of the Belarusian Association of Gymnastics).
On March 3 the unitary enterprise Pressball Plus transferred 30 million rubles to M. Korbut. However, U.Berazhkou does not have the necessary sum (about USD 4,650).

On March 11 in the presence of two witnesses it was stated there are the following things in the apartment of Uladzimir Berazhkou, where also a two-year-old child lives: a tea-kettle, vacuum-cleaner, washing machine, a ceiling lamp, a painting and other things in which the debt can be taken out. The bed and refrigerator and other articles of daily necessity, according to the Civil Code, were not distrained. On July 19, as said by the editor, all things were distrained in the apartment.
