Check of Svyatlana Zavadskaya’s Complaint Against Riot Policeman’s Actions Not Finished :: Charter'97 :: News

The prosecutor’s office of the Tsentralny district of Minsk has not finished the examination of the complaint by Svyatlana Zavadskaya against the action of Minsk riot policeman. Radio Svaboda was informed about that by the prosecutor of the Tsentralny district of Minsk Alyakasndr Khadatovich. No other details were given by the prosecutor.

Investigator Dzmitry Lugin, who is carrying out the scrutiny, also refused to inform about the details of the scrutiny. The representatives of the prosecutor’s office consider that the time limit for the inspection is not exceeded.

The wife of the abducted cameraman of the ORT channel Zmitser Zavadsky has lodged a complaint against the riot policeman who struck her in the face during the protest action marking the day of journalist Zmitser Zavadsky’s vanishing. She lodged a complaint on July 8, and expected the answer within the term defined by the law. The law stipulates that such complaints are to be considered within 10 days, and the extension of the term is foreseen only in special cases.

It is not informed whether the police are carrying out an examination of the riot policeman’s actions. The name of that riot policeman is not revealed yet.
