Will the black color be forbidden in Belarus?
11:41, 01/09/2005, UCP press-room

All the participants of the action in Volkovisk will be called to administrative account. This has been reported by the officials of the Volkovisk local police station, where the chairman of the primary Volkovisk UCP organization Alexander Borodavin and party activist Vitaly Gulyak have been brought.

Let us remember, that on the 27-th of August the activists of United Civil Party have held a protest action against the interference of Belarusian authorities in the social organization’s Union of Poles in Belarus business. Several days before the holding of the meeting, citizens of Volkovisk have received leaflets with the analysis of the situation around the Union of Poles and with the chronology of the conflict’s development between the authorities and the organization. The action with the participation of the local UCP organization’s activists has started in 9.00 am on the 27-th of August at the same time when the delegates’ of the Union of Poles meeting registration has started. Young people with black bandages have formed a line in front of the regional house of culture in Volkovisk, where the meeting has been taking place. The black bandages have symbolized the “funerals” of the Union’s of Poles in Belarus independence.

Today Alexander Borodavin and Vitaly Gulyaev have received subpoenas with the demand to show themselves on the 31-st of September in 9.00 in the court. Law machinery representatives, who have been taking the explanations from the UCP members, have marked, that all the participants will stand before the court. According to the militiamen words, they have a tape, on which there are shots of UCP activists, appealing to the government overthrowing. But the action participants state, that these accusations are no more than fiction.
