Russia to Supply Belarus with S-300 Air Defense Missiles — Source 11:32, 12/09/2005, MosNews
Moscow and Minsk have signed a contract under which Russia will supply Belarus with enough S-300 air defense missile systems to arm one air defense brigade, a Belarusian Defense Ministry source told Interfax on Saturday.
“The missile systems will be of the S-300PS modification,” the source said.
The contract was signed in Minsk on Saturday.
“Under the terms of the contract, the S-300 missile systems will undergo pre-sale service in Russia at the expense of Belarus. Following the service, the missiles will be put on combat alert in the interests of the joint air defense system,” he said.
The process for delivering the air defense systems from Russia to Belarus will begin today, RIA Novosti added.
While transport arrangements are made in the two countries, technical preparation of the air defense systems is being carried out; the transport and setting up of S-300 systems will be carried out by engineering and technical specialists.
