The case was initiated against two Belarusian and two Israeli citizens, the spokesman said, adding that their business operated from August 2004 to February 2005. The businessmen took in U.S. $120,000 in illegal revenues causing $480,000 in damages to Belarus’ state-controlled fixed-line monopoly Beltelecom and Belarus` mobile operators Mobile Digital Communications (MDC) and Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), , the spokesman said.
Under Belarus` law, the four citizens may be sentenced for up to seven years for operating a business without official registration, or "illegal entrepreneurship," and have their property confiscated.
