Who threatens family of disappeared general Zaharenka in Berlin?

Information has appeared recently about threatening to family of disappeared Belarusian general ex minister of internal affairs Yury Zaharanka. Olga Zaharenka and her daughters Alena and Yulia had to leave their residence in Berlin because of fear for their lives.

Radio “Liberty” contacted chairman of Union of Belarusians in Germany Yauhien Murashka. He was the first whom appealed for assistance family of Yury Zaharenka.

“They called me from Berlin in the night. And they asked me to save them to take out of Berlin because they were afraid that they won’t be alive in the morning. That’s what they said exactly. We sent our son to Berlin to take them away.”

“As they arrived they were obviously scared. They were in panic. We see that they are under moral pressure. It is going to be trial concerning victims of the regime. And the Zaharenkas could witness on it. And we see that someone has an aim to lead them to loosing their mind to take them away from the trial,” - said Murashka.

For the moment family of Yury Zaharenka is back to Berlin. “We asked state authorities to take care of them. That’s why they agreed to come back there. Officers of German special services were coming to us. They said that according to their information Belarusian special services express some interest to our activities in Germany,” -- said Murashka.

Wife of Yury Zaharenka, two his daughters and grandson left Belarus in July of 2000 and asked for political asylum.
