Political Prisoner Valery Levaneuski Transfers His Salary To Orphanages

The leader of e All-National Strike Committee, member of the “Free Belarus” Valery Levaneuski, who serves the two-year sentence in the colony in Ivatsevichy, allegedly for libel against Lukashenka, has sacrificed his two-month salary to Bytsenskaya and Yurgalinskaya orphan’s houses, situated in the neighbourhood of the colony. The press center of the Charter’97 was told about that by the son of the political prisoner, Uladzimir Levaneuski.

Political Prisoner Andrei Klimau Left For Serving Punishment

The deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the 13th convocation, Andrei Klimau, has left to the place where he is to serve the term. He is sentenced to two years of personal restraint, or “correctional labour”, and is to live in the settlement of Krupki, Minks region. The politician has been sentenced to a year and a half of personal restraint for organizing a protest rally on March 25 this year, demanding Lukashenka’s resignation. “I will use the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in the film “The Terminator” I’ll be back!” It will be the last year for Alyaksandr Lukashenka in power. And let him pray for God that the year 2006 would finish trouble-free. That he would be treated in a civilized way after his vacation of a position. We shall provide a good prison cell for him, and leave him alive,” said the political prisoner to the Charter’97 press center before departure.

Number of Hunger Strike Participants in Brest Can Increase

Some self-employed entrepreneurs, owners of taxi cars (“marshrootkas”), will join the hunger strike started on September 20 by their colleagues in Brest. Those Brest entrepreneurs who have been already demanded by tax inspection to pay fee for commercial usage of the cars imported to Belarus, are to take part in the protest, Radio Svaboda informs.

The prosecutor’s office of Ivatsevichy region sent an answer to appeals of the family of Valery Levanuski, the head of the all-national strike committee of vendors, member of the “Free Belarus” who serves the sentence in the colony for public insult of Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The prosecutor of Ivatsevichy region, T.Stasevich, notes that correspondence of prisoners is subject to censorship, and that “letters of prisoners and sent to prisoners, that have a cynical character, aimed at inflicting damage” to state institutions and individual citizens, are destroyed.
