Number of Hunger Strike Participants in Brest Can Increase
12:27, 22/09/2005

Some self-employed entrepreneurs, owners of taxi cars (“marshrootkas”), will join the hunger strike started on September 20 by their colleagues in Brest. Those Brest entrepreneurs who have been already demanded by tax inspection to pay fee for commercial usage of the cars imported to Belarus, are to take part in the protest, Radio Svaboda informs.

This payment was introduced by Lukashenka’s decree number 140 last year in April; however tax inspections consider it concerns those entrepreneurs who had imported their cars from abroad much earlier. As a result, each of the owners of marshrootkas must pay from 25 to 50 millions Br to the budget additionally.
