Minsk calls for end to OSCE double standards 12:11, 22/09/2005
Belarus is interested in the quickest end of what it calls the OSCE`s double standards, primarily in the elections and human rights spheres.
The Foreign Ministry`s press service told Interfax that Belarussian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov said exactly that at a meeting with a Belgian government representative on OSCE issues. "The parties discussed cooperation between Belarus and Belgium, which will preside over the OSCE presidency in 2006. The parties have reached an agreement on specific areas of such cooperation, which meets the interests of the parties and the whole OSCE region," the Belarussian Foreign Ministry said.
A diplomatic source told Interfax that the "practical use of the current OSCE chairman`s visit to Belarus [in 2005 Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel]" was being discussed. The previous OSCE chairman, Solomon Passy, visited Belarus in the summer of 2004.
