The court of Maskouski district of Minsk fined the administrator of the church “New Life” Vasily Yurevich 160 basic units (about $ 2,000). He was found guilty of second violation of church service order. According to the ruling of Natalya Kuznetsova, he had attended the church service held without permission of the authorities.
Vasily Yurevich believes that the judge has fabricated the case. “In the statement of the court I see another step towards suppression of the Protestant church in Belarus. But I believe in justice of Heaven, and that this all would end some day,” he commented the ruling.
The sentence will be appealed against.
It is the second fine to Vasily Yurevich for the analogous “offence”. In November 2004 the administrator of the church “New Life” was fined 3,600,000 Br.
