European Parliament to adopt resolution on Belarus on Wednesday 16:05, 27/09/2005
The European Parliament is scheduled to discuss, among issues, the situation in Belarus on September 28 and adopt a resolution on the subject.
According to the European Parliament`s press office, during their second Strasbourg session of September, which opened on September 26, MEPs are also to hold a discussion on the occasion of the 25th anniversary Poland`s Solidarity (Solidarnosc) and its message for Europe, debate a legislative package on how to improve the EU`s railroads, and discuss the opening of accession negotiations with Turkey, which was a feature of the recent German election campaign, the reform of the United Nations, the problem of oil prices, EU-India relations, and other issues. The European Parliament adopted a resolution on political prisoners in Belarus in March and a resolution on the political situation and media freedom in the country in July.
MEPs have lately been focused on the rights of the Polish minority in Belarus and the organization of independent television and radio broadcasting to the country.
