NEWS  Congress of Democratic Forces to Select Single Candidate to Presidency 15:25, 30/09/2005 On October 1-2 the National Congress of Democratic Forces is to take place in Minsk. About 800 delegates from about 200 democratic organizations of Belarus are to take part in the congress. They are to choose a single candidate of democratic forces to run in the presidential elections in 2006. In the list of pretenders to become a single candidate are the chairman of the Party of Communists of Belarus Syarhei Kalyakin, the chairman of the United Civil party Anatol Lyabedzka, a public figure Alyaksandr Milinkevich and the leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada Stanislau Shushkevich. The Charter’97 press center is to cover the work of the congress from the moment of its opening and until the single candidate would be elected.
