Zubr hails Congress of democratic forces of Belarus 14:55, 30/09/2005
The National congress of democratic forces of Belarus is a logical outcome of a long process of Belarusian opposition’s consolidation that has been lasting for many years. It has become possible owing to responsibility of political leaders and a daily hard and thorough work of democratic activists across Belarus.
The Belarusian resistance movement Zubr hails National congress of democratic forces of Belarus. Nomination of the single candidate is an important step towards the defeat of dictatorship, to the victory of Freedom and Democracy in Belarus.
From the very beginning of the Congress’ preparing process Zubr as a youth non-partisan movement declared that we see no difference between challengers for the single candidate’s position. Participants of the Congress will make the choice themselves. The name of the winner is not important for us. It is important for him to realize all the immensity of his responsibility, responsibility in face of Motherland and in face of God.
Unfortunately, he haven’t had either free elections or civilized political process. This means that the Belarusians will have to obtain victory not only at polling stations, but by heroic deeds, by personal courage, through solidarity. The one who will show the way to the victory for the people will become their leader - the leader of a new Belarus.
History knows the names of Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Vaclav Havel, Lech Valesa - the real leaders of their nations, whose names are covered with fame, whose figures are legendary. Vojislav Kostunitsa, Mikhail Saakashvili, Victor Yushchenko and Yuliya Timoshenko are examples from the recent history. They all are similar in one thing. They desired a victory and they achieved it. Zubr wishes the winner of the Congress to become such a leader.
Let us stay together and Belarus will become free!
